Meet the Dr. Melissa Papio

Dr. Melissa Papio discovered her passion for orthodontics while working in an orthodontic office during high school. She went on to attend Boston College, where she graduated with high honors and earned a degree in Biology. Dr. Papio then attended the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine before pursuing her orthodontic residency at The Ohio State University, where she earned a Certificate in Orthodontics and a Master of Science degree. Today, she is a board-certified orthodontist dedicated to helping patients achieve healthy, confident smiles through personalized care and exceptional orthodontic treatment.

Dr. Melissa Papio is a board-certified orthodontist dedicated to creating healthy, confident smiles through personalized, patient-centered care. Originally from Silver Spring, Maryland, and raised in Avon, Connecticut, Dr. Papio discovered her passion for orthodontics while working in an orthodontic office during high school.

She went on to attend Boston College, where she graduated with high honors and earned a degree in Biology. Dr. Papio then pursued her dental education at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. While exploring all facets of dentistry, she quickly realized that orthodontics was her true calling. She continued her advanced training at The Ohio State University, where she completed her orthodontic residency and earned both a Certificate in Orthodontics and a Master of Science degree.

Following residency, Dr. Papio practiced orthodontics in Greenville, South Carolina, for more than three years, helping patients achieve beautiful, functional smiles through modern treatment techniques. She later relocated to Wilmington, North Carolina, where she continues to pursue her passion for making a lasting impact on patients’ lives through exceptional orthodontic care.

Outside the office, Dr. Papio enjoys embracing coastal living by spending time on the water, relaxing at the beach, and exploring Wilmington’s vibrant dining scene. She and her husband, Peter, are proud parents of energetic twins, Beck and Findley, who keep them busy and laughing every day.

Known for her warm, approachable style and commitment to clinical excellence, Dr. Papio takes pride in treating every patient like family. She looks forward to welcoming patients and helping them achieve healthy, beautiful smiles that last a lifetime.
